Health & Safety

Health & Safety

Our aim is to reduce all risks to health and safety, to which the company exposes its employees and the general public whom we may affect. We continue to develop and sustain a culture within the company that encourages active participation in achieving this aim. We seek to provide a place of work that is safe by maintaining a close and vigilant control of those factors likely to have an adverse effect in the working environment.

We aim to achieve this objective by:

  • Carrying out appropriate site safety inspections, evaluation of the results and appropriate action.
  • Reducing the incident rate of all accidents year on year
  • Employ a fully qualified and certified workforce
  • Consultation with all the workforce on health and safety matters

Training

Our objectives with regard to training are to ensure all levels of employees receive the appropriate training.

Our target for Civil Engineering employees is to ensure all site employees have CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) and / or CPCS (Plant & Machinery) cards, NSRWA (Streetworks).

CSCS/CPCS/NRSWA cards are being demanded by an increasing number of clients. These Schemes provide proof of competence for the client with the independent recognition that before they allow firms to tender or allow to work on site that they have been recognised by the industry as having the skills required.

The standards set for Transport employees is to ensure the drivers have CSCS and CPC cards.

Our contract management experience includes carrying out work in accordance with the CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations and we can also carry out the role of Principal Contractor.

We also provide:-

  • Method statements
  • Risk assessments
  • Safe systems of work
  • Construction phase health and safety plan
  • On site health and safety inspection by our in house safety advisor

We ensure that our supervisors responsible for on site operatives are experienced and skilled in many aspects of civil engineering.

We are a fully accredited holder of Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme  (CHAS) certificate.
